Notes for the Ceremony

Please first register at the Graduates’ registration counter (N2 University Hall Lobby) and arrive at the ceremony hall (N8 Sports Complex) before 10:00 a.m.

  • Companions should present the admission tickets for entering the live stream viewing areas (N2 University Hall and G/F Multi-Function Hall at N1 UM Guest House) by 10:30 a.m. and remain seated during the ceremony.
  • Children of age below 6 will not be admitted.
  • Graduates are required to wear a long-sleeve white shirt, pure black trousers or skirt, black tie, pure black shoes, the graduation gown and cap. Please be reminded to maintain the gowns straight and stiff for attending the ceremony, and prepare hair clips and safety pins for wearing the gowns.
  • Graduates with improper attire will not be allowed to receive the certificate on stage.

  • Only graduates who confirmed renting a gown in the E-form before the submission deadline can rent a gown provided by the University at the rental counter (N2 University Hall Lobby) on the day of the ceremony from 8:30 a.m. Upon reservation made in the E-form, graduates may rent a gown at the Graduate School office (N6-G001) on 22 November 2024 during office hours.
  • Shirt, trousers, tie, and shoes will NOT be provided by the rental service.
  • The rent of graduation gowns are as follows:
    • Doctoral degrees: MOP65 per day plus MOP1,500 deposit;
    • Master’s degrees: MOP65 per day plus MOP500 deposit;
    • Postgraduate certificates/diplomas: MOP65 per day plus MOP500 deposit;
    • Deposit must be paid in cash. The deposit will be reimbursed upon your return of the gown.
  • Graduates could return their gowns to the rental counter (N2 University Hall Lobby) before 1:15 p.m. on the day of the ceremony or return the gown to the Security and Facilities Services Section at N6 Administration Building (Room N6-3012) from 25 to 28 November 2024 during office hours (Mondays to Thursdays: 09:00-13:00, 14;00-17:45; Fridays: 09:00-13:00, 14:00-17:30) with rental fee MOP65 per day charged.
  • If the graduation gown is lost or damaged, restitution must be made to the University. The amount of restitution is to be defined by the University in accordance with the actual cost for replacing such gown.

The University will arrange photographers to take photos. Graduates will receive an email notification regarding the online photo album. The photos will be sorted in the sequence of academic units and the download period is one month. Students should respect the privacy of others, posting photos of others in any way without permission is prohibited. The copyright of the photos belongs to the University of Macau. If any infringement is found, the infringer shall bear the legal responsibilities and consequences.

Graduates and companions can go to the campus by public transportation or drive by themselves. Outdoor visitor car park P1A (accept E-payment only) located next to N9, as well as other visitor car parks P3, P5 and P6, will be opened for use. The parking fees for light vehicle is MOP 6/hour while that for motorcycle is MOP 3/hour. Half parking fees could be waived by presenting the campus card (e.g. Student ID Card or Alumni Card) at the shroff office, except for contactless or electronic payment.

  • The ceremony will be held as usual when Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 1 or No. 3/ Yellow, Red or Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is hoisted.
  • The ceremony will carry on when Tropical Cyclone Signal No.8 or above is hoisted during the ceremony.
  • The ceremony will be postponed when Tropical Cyclone Signal No.8 or above is still hoisted at 7:00 a.m. on the day of the ceremony. Detailed arrangement will be informed via email.

UM Guest House is located at N1, all guest rooms are equipped with full accommodation amenities. There are limited number of Standard Twin Rooms offered to families of graduates visiting Macau for short-term accommodation purposes at UM Guest House. Graduates can make reservations for family members by completing the e-application form (https://go.um.edu.mo/rlxrfdl8). Student Resources Section will confirm the reservation by e-mail afterwards. Rooms are limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
